A former LAPD officer was arrested Thursday, April 20, on suspicion of raping a child before working at the department, police said.
Diego Jose Miranda Lopez, who previously worked as a probationary officer, resigned after LAPD brought forth the allegations, the department said in a news release. It was not immediately clear whether Lopez’s resignation occurred before or after he was arrested Thursday.
As of Thursday evening, Lopez was being held without bail at LAPD’s Valley Jail in Van Nuys.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney is set to make filing considerations Monday, April 24 after reviewing the case, the release said.
