On April 15, thousands of newly admitted undergraduate students and their families will be welcomed to a festive, campuswide event called “Experience CSUF: Become a Titan,” so they can learn all about Cal State Fullerton before making their final decision by the May 1 acceptance deadline.
About 8,000 to 9,000 people are expected to attend the event, according to Colleen McDonough, director of Titan Orientation programs as well as Outreach and Recruitment, who is coordinating the day. This will be a mix of transfer students and first-year students, as well as their families. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will be chock-full of activities.
“We want them to feel the energy of the campus and to get a glimpse of what their experience would be like at CSUF,” McDonough said. “The goal is for admitted students and their guests to learn more about various aspects of campus and student life at CSUF in order for them to make an informed choice about accepting their offer of admission. They will be able to meet faculty, staff, current students and leadership from their future college,” she said.
Among the many activities, campus tours given by student ambassadors are always popular, McDonough said. “The Diversity and Inclusion Resource Centers, the Career Center and Housing and Residential Engagement are hosting open houses this year,” she said, “and we anticipate those will be well-attended.”
Students who want to officially accept their offer of admission on the spot can do so at the Admissions Acceptance Center. “That’s always a highlight,” McDonough said. “It’s so exciting to be with students and families who are joining the Titan family!”
Faculty from all departments will be on hand. “The colleges and their academic departments are there to welcome admitted students and talk about degree programs and courses available to CSUF students who are interested in their disciplines,”…
