A man and two women wanted in a carjacking and attempted homicide were arrested at the end of a police chase in South Los Angeles after a puppy was thrown from the vehicle, authorities said.
During the pursuit, which started at about 12:12 p.m. Friday, a puppy was placed in a designer bag and tossed from the suspect’s vehicle, the Los Angeles Police Department reported.

The puppy emerged unharmed, was rescued by officers and placed in the care of Los Angeles Animal Services’ South LA shelter.
The pursuit traveled throughout multiple Los Angeles County cities, ending in Carson, at Vermont Avenue and Belson Street, police said.
A 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and carjacking, which authorities said occurred on March 26 in the area 101st and San Pedro streets. He was being held without bail.
A 27-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of setting up a second getaway vehicle. She was booked on suspicion of being an accessory and evading. Her bail was set at $67,000.
Another woman, 25, of Santa Monica, was the alleged driver of the second getaway vehicle, She was arrested on suspicion of evading. Her bail was set at $75,000.
Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
