The Swallows Day Parade in San Juan Capistrano was back to its beloved self on Saturday, March 25.
After being canceled by pandemic precautions the first two years, the parade returned last year, but still wasn’t the celebration of the returning swallows the community is used to. A contagious virus among horses last year pulled them from the lineup as another precaution and the parade that is advertised as one of the nation’s largest non-motorized celebrations welcomed vehicles to its route.
But this year, the horses were back – this is an equestrian town after all – and the cheering community lined the route to celebrate the return of the swallows to San Juan Capistrano in full fashion.
Following the parade, celebrations continued throughout the afternoon with the Mercado Street Faire at Historic Town Center Park.
